1. About my Cubase XG Drum Maps

Drum Maps for the (usual) XG mode:
These Yamaha XG Drum Maps for Cubase VST 5 and Cubase SE/SL/SX offer easy access by name to all the available instruments of the XG Standard drum kits: XG Standard Kit, XG Standard 2 Kit, XG Room Kit, XG Rock Kit, XG Electro Kit, XG Analog Kit, XG Jazz Kit, XG Brush Kit, XG Classic Kit, XG SFX 1 Set and XG SFX 2 Set.
Notes with no assigned sound appear as ------, followed by the particular note number (1-128).

Drum Maps for the (optional) GS compatible TG300B mode:
Many XG synths ( DB50XG, SW60XG, MU 10/50/80/90/100, SW1000XG uam.) offer an additional TG300B mode, which is compatible the Roland GS Standard. Therefore I also offer Drum Maps for the Drum kits, which are availble in TG300B mode: GS Standard Kit, GS Room Kit, GS Rock Kit, GS Electro Kit, GS Analog Kit, GS Jazz Kit, GS Brush Kit, GS Classic Kit and GS SFX Set.
Please read the manual of your particular XG synth to ensure, that it supports the TG300B mode - if he doesn't, these GS Drum Maps cannot be used with this particular synth!
Important:
The TG300B mode must be enabled first before using my GS Drum Maps. This must be done with the SysEx message "TG300B Reset" (F0,41,10,42,12,40,00,7F,00,41,F7) at the beginning of a song. Note: with message "XG System On" (F0,43,10,4C,00,00,7E,00,F7) you can reset your synth to the usual XG mode.

Different Drum Maps for Cubase VST 5 and Cubase SE/SL/SX:
Using Cubase VST 5, the name of drum instruments in the drum editor is limited to max. 11 signs - in Cubase SE/SL/SX the names can be longer than 11 signs. For this reason I developed different sets of Drum Maps. User of Cubase VST 5 should use my VST5 sets of Drum Maps in any case!

Please also read my additional notes at Chapter 6!

6. Additional notes to these Drum Maps

1. Compatibility of my XG Drum Maps:
My XG Drum Maps should run with every 100% XG compatible synth including 3rd-party synths like for example the Wave XTable from Terratec (in XG mode).

2. Specialities of both the Drum Maps for the XG SFX Sets:
Both the XG SFX Drum Maps include some instruments (from Yamaha MU 80), which extend the XG "normal" Standard. These sounds won't be available at Standard XG synths like the DB50XG, SW60XG, MU10, MU50 uam. !
These special drum instruments are marked for this reason: in my VST-5 versions they appear with a "*" at the beginning of the name (for example: *Bass Slide), and in my SE/SL/SX versions they appear in parantheses.

3. Further Drum Maps for extended XG Drum Kits:
Many extended Yamaha XG synths (like MU 90/100, SW1000XG and many PSR synths) offer additional Drum Kits, for example totalling 36 kits at the MU 100 or SW1000XG at further bank/program number combinations. You won't find Drum Maps for these additional Drum Kits at this page !
Nevertheless it is quite easy to create your own Drum Maps for these kits: simply use for example my Drum Map for the Standard Kit as sample, change the instrument names corresponding to the particular kit (take a look into your manual with the instrument lists) and save the Map under a new name - that's all!
Please consider, that Cubase counts from 1-128 at the Note numbers, but in the Yamaha manuals the Note numbers are counted from 0-127!

4. Unused Note numbers:
Each of my Drum Maps contains many unused Note numbers with no sound - they appear as "-------" + (Cubase) "Note number", for example "------- 12" in the Standard kit.

4. Looped Drum instruments in the Cubase VST Drum Editor:
Some instruments of the Drum kits (for example "Snare Roll") and many instruments of the SFX sets are looped and therefore expect additionally a Note Off Message: with other words, the length of a note is important for these instruments! Note: Most other Drum instruments only react on a Note On message, and their sound is independend from the Note length.
This can cause sound problems in the Cubase VST Drum Editor, where the Note length is always very short and not editable!
