First of all:
In the following explanations I will always refer to the Yamaha DB50XG, but all explanations will
be true of any 100% compatible XG synthesizer (SW60XG, MU10, MU50, MU80...).
- Important:
This mixer map is (mostly) not able to vary settings in 'real time':
Most changes (i.e.: XG Master, Effect 1, Effect 2) DURING PLAYBACK will cause undesirable sound effects!
ONLY the '16 Channel Multipart Mixer' can be used in 'real time' (during playback) without any sound problems.
- The snapshots 'Basic' and 'Mixer':
After opening of a mixer map you will always have the problem, that the shown 'values' of the switches/controls
don't match to the default settings of a XG synth. Therefore I've included two snapshots ('Basic' and 'Mixer')
in this mixer map:
Snapshot 'Basic':
After a click on this snapshot all Master- and Effect 1/2 settings will change to the XG default settings -
like this all switches/dials will move to the XG default setting position.
Snapshot 'Mixer':
After a click on this snapshot all switches/dials of the 'Multipart mixer' will move to the XG default settings.
Don't forget:
This 'Multipart mixer' is not similar to the Cubase 'MIDI Track Mixer' -
it varies (via SysEx MIDI data!) the 16 'Parts' of a XG synth, but NOT (!) any of the 16 'MIDI channels'!
Like this you can vary even parts of a XG synth individually, which are assigned to the same MIDI channel!!!
That's really a big difference - please keep this in your mind.
Hint:
After clicking on the snapshots 'Basic' and 'Mixer' all corresponding XG MIDI data will be send to the
XG synthesizer - therefore you can use these snapshots also to discard any changes you've made and
reprogram the XG synth to the default values.
